Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers builds dialogue on forest-based solutions to address global challenges. It is a discussion forum focusing on the ways in which forests can contribute to the development of a sustainable circular bioeconomy. The second Forest Academy pilot event will take place in 2020 in Sweden.
Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers 2018-2020 is a joint venture between Finland and Sweden, with the engagement of an extensive group of stakeholders. The project consists of two consecutive pilot events.
The first event was organised in November 2018 as an intense two-day field course in southern Finland.
The second event will take place during 2020 in Sweden. The event is by invitation only.
The programme drafts the big picture of forest sector and it’s role from global challenges to hands-on solutions and back. At Forest Academy, you can enjoy the exclusive programme with fascinating site visits. The event also offers possibilities to share insights and connect with other key decision makers in EU institutions. The programme consists of seminar sessions, field excursions, discussions and network building. The event language is English.
Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers 2018-2020 is organized by Finnish Forest Association and Swedish Forest Agency (Skogsstyrelsen). The project is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, the Finnish Forest Foundation and the Marjatta and Eino Kolli Foundation.
The implementation of Forest Academy is based on the Forest Academy communication tool produced by the Finnish Forest Association. The association is a non-governmental, non-profit cooperation and communication body bringing together all major forest-related interests. In Finland, the communication programme has been running successfully since 1996. Over 1,400 top-level decision-makers from different sectors of society have participated in the forums.
