Some help for starting to plan the congress journey

The official programme of the congress starts on Tuesday 2 October at 2.30 pm in Oulu, Northen Finland, where the busses leave first to Syöte National Park’s Visitor Centre (see Syöte on the map) and then to the main venue and accomodation place Youth and leisure centre Pikku-Syöte.  See information for booking accomodation at hotel Pikku-Syöte. The official programme ends at Oulu airport on Friday 5 October about 11 am. See the detailed programme.

Besides flying (Norwegian, and Finnair) it is also possible to take a train from Helsinki to Oulu. A night train is a good option, especially if you book a sleeping cabin. The train leaves from Helsinki on Monday evening and you’ll arrive to Oulu next morning. There is a local train connection from Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

One can also arrive earlier either on Monday evening October 1 or early morning on Tuesday October 2. For those who are on Tuesday morning in Oulu is arranged a forenoon excursion (no extra cost) to a wood processing factory (Stora Enso) nearby Oulu.

For those who arrive already on Monday evening, there are many hotels and other places to overnight. We recommend for example a cosy Scandinavian style and rather reasonable priced bed& breakfast place called TurusenSaha, just next to the Oulu citycenter. See also TurusenSaha in booking.com.

If you wish to visit Rovaniemi, either before or after the congress, you can take a bus (takes 3-4hours) or a train (takes 2 hours 20 minutes) between Oulu and Rovaniemi.
