A joint initiative from Finland and Sweden

The Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers pilot (2018-2022) is a joint venture between Sweden and Finland, co-organised by the Finnish Forest Association and the Swedish Forest Agency.

The pilot events were convened in 2018 and 2022 by Prime Ministers Magdalena Andersson and Sanna Marin and planned in collaboration with an extensive group of stakeholders.

The pilot events are financed by the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation and the Finnish Forest Foundation.

The pilot is largely based on the Forest Academy communication concept, produced by the Finnish Forest Association. The association is a non-governmental, non-profit cooperation and communication body serving all major forest-related interests. In Finland, the communication programme has been running successfully since 1996 and some 1,600 top-level decision-makers from different sectors of society have participated in the forums.
