Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers to be organised in Finland in 2026

The fifth Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers takes place in Southern Finland in September 2026. This high-level, invitation-only event offers an unique opportunity for EU decision-makers to engage in dialogue with leading forest experts, scientists, and practitioners.

Hosted jointly by Sweden and Finland, the Forest Academy focuses on the role of forests and the forest-based value chain in building a sustainable, circular bioeconomy. Through a three-day programme that combines field visits with in-depth discussions, participants explore how forest policies are implemented in practice and how they contribute to biodiversity, climate action and competitiveness.

The Finnish Forest Association is the organiser of the event in 2026.

Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers

The Forest Academy for EU Decision Makers has been ogranised four times between 2017 and 2025. Over 120 EU-level decisionmakers have participated in the events organised in Finland and Sweden. The forum is based on the Forest Academy communication concept produced by the Finnish Forest Association. In Finland, the concept has been active since 1996, and over 1 800 top-level decision-makers from different sectors of society have participated in the forums.
